Transport Minister, Carl Sargeant, has officially opened the three mile £35m Porthmadog, Tremadog, Minffordd bypass on the A487.
This document - the Non-Technical Summary (NTS) - describes the scheme and summarises, in nontechnical language, the Environmental Statement (ES).
The A487 through Porthmadog is congested, especially during summer months, and the new bypass will improve matters for all road users.

Aim of the scheme

To improve journey times between north and south Wales and improve environmental conditions within Porthmadog, Tremadog and Minffordd.

The A487 is an important route for travelling between north and south Wales as well as being a key connection between towns and villages in the area.

The route is 5.2km in length. The work is expected to take two years.

The scheme opened on 17 October 2011.
