The key points from the latest release are:
- Key Stage 1: The proportion of pupils in Wales achieving the expected level was slightly lower than in England for all subjects apart from Science, where the average for England and Wales was the same with 89% each, the same as in 2006.
- Key Stage 2: In 2007, pupils in Wales performed better than their counterparts in England in English and Mathematics and performed the same in Science.
- Key Stage 3: In 2007, the proportion of pupils in Wales achieving the expected level was lower than England for all subjects.
- Key Stage 4: In 2007 in Wales, 55 per cent of all pupils aged 15 achieved the level 2 threshold (a volume of qualifications at Level 2 equivalent to the volume of 5 GCSEs at Grade A*-C) compared to 61 per cent in England.
