Right to Buy Sales, January to March 2008

The latest National Statistics on Right to Buy and other sales of Local Authority (LA) dwellings produced by the Welsh Assembly Government were released on 18 June 2008 according to the arrangements approved by the UK Statistics Authority.
UK Statistics Authority Website Statistics on the number of right to buy sales of Local Authority (LA) dwellings completed in Wales include data for the quarter January to March 2008.  The latest release updates the statistics previously released on 19 March 2008.

The key points from the latest release are:

  • During the January to March quarter 2008 there were 351 RTB claims.
  • RTB claims increased by 1 from the October to December 2007 figure of 350 and decreased by 855 from the same quarter the previous year.
  • The level of claims remains below the level prior to the surge during 2002-03.
  • There were 123 completed RTB sales during the January to March quarter 2008. This was 74 less than the previous quarter and 176 less than the same quarter the previous year.
  • Overall there were 819 completed RTB sales during 2007-08, which was 429 less than during 2006-07.
  • On average only around 57 per cent of claims ever reach the completed sales stage.
