This Statistical Release presents information about possession orders and eviction warrants obtained against tenants of social landlords (local authorities and registered social landlords - RSLs) in Wales during 2006-07.
UK Statistics Authority Website The Release also presents information about other legal action that social landlords have taken against anti-social behaviour by their tenants.

Key results show that during 2006-07:

  • Welsh social landlords reported taking out 4,896 possession orders during 2006-07, a fall of 13 per cent from the previous year. These were almost entirely because of rent arrears.
  • There were 3,917 eviction warrants granted to Welsh social landlords against their tenants during 2006-07, a fall of  90 (2 per cent) from the previous year. These eviction warrants resulted in 1,339 tenants (and their families) leaving their homes, a fall of 127 (9 per cent) compared with 2005-06.
  • Non-elderly single people (770 tenants) made up most of the 1,339 tenants that left their homes, though 233 single parent families were also a significant group.
  • Other legal action taken by social landlords against anti-social behaviour by tenants also decreased.  Anti-social behaviour orders decreased from 38 during 2005-06 to 12 in 2006-07 and injunctions decreased from 125 to 103.
