Ambulance Services, April 2011

Statistics on ambulance services in Wales include data for April 2011.  The latest release updates the statistics previously released on 4 May.

The key points from the latest release are:

• there were almost 30,200 emergency calls, up 13.7% compared with April 2010;
• 68.4% of first responses to Category A (immediately life-threatening) calls arrived within 8 minutes, 73.8% within 9 minutes and 78.0% within 10 minutes;
• 89.0% of  Category A (immediately life-threatening) calls and 77.6% of  Category B (all other emergency) calls resulted in an ambulance arriving at the scene within the target times;
• 74.6% of urgent journeys arrived not more than 15 minutes later than the requested arrival time.
