The latest statistics on Time Spent in Accident and Emergency Departments produced by the Welsh Assembly Government were released on 23rd September 2010 according to the arrangements approved by the UK Statistics Authority.

Statistics on Time Spent in NHS Wales Accident and Emergency Departments include data for Wales for the period beginning August 2009 through to August 2010. The latest release updates the statistics previously released on 19th August 2010.

The key points from the latest release are:

  • 89.4 per cent of patients spent less than 4 hours in All Hospital Emergency Care facilities from arrival until admission, transfer or discharge, a decrease of 1.2 percentage points compared with July.
  • 98.1 per cent of patients spent less than 8 hours in All Hospital Emergency Care facilities from arrival until admission, transfer or discharge, no change compared with July.
  • 87.3 per cent of patients spent less than 4 hours in a Major A&E department from arrival until admission, transfer or discharge, a decrease of 1.5 percentage points compared with July.
  • 97.8 per cent of patients spent less than 8 hours in a Major A&E department from arrival until admission, transfer or discharge, a decrease of 0.1 percentage points compared with July.

All figures relating to August 2010 are provisional.
