The latest National Statistics on registers of people with disabilities, produced by the Data Unit ~ Wales and the Welsh Assembly Government, were released on 29 October 2008 according to the arrangements approved by the UK Statistics Authority.

UK Statistics Authority website Statistics on disability registers include data for Wales at 31 March 2008. The latest release updates the statistics previously released on 24 October 2007.

The key points from the latest release are:

  • There were 14,137 people on registers of people with learning disabilities.
  • There were 81,823 people on registers of people with physical or sensory disabilities. Of these, 51,790 were registered as having a physical disability only.
