NHS Immunisation Statistics, Wales, 2006-07

This statistical release summarises information about the uptake of immunisation, primarily childhood immunisations, during the year ended 31 March 2007.

Key facts:

  • Of the children who reached their 2nd birthday in the year ended 31 March 2007:
    • 95% had been immunised against diphtheria, tetanus, polio, pertussis (whooping cough), haemophilus influenzae type b (Hib); and meningitis C; and
    • 88% had been immunised against measles, mumps and rubella.
  • During the autumn and winter of 2005-06, 68% of people aged 65 or over were immunised against influenza; and
  • 44% of people in Wales aged 65 or over had been immunised against pneumococcal disease at any time in the 10 years up to July 2006.
