Wales specific guidance on preparing a Charging Schedule.

Local authorities can charge a Community Infrastructure Levy (CIL) on new development in their area to support infrastructure needed by growth, such as improvements to roads, park/open space improvements or a new health provision.

The system is very simple. It applies a charge to most new buildings with the charge based on the size and type of the new development.

The Community Infrastructure Levy is not devolved to Wales. Guidance and regulations are prepared by the Department of Communities and Local Government (DCLG).  The Welsh Government has provided guidance on the Community Infrastructure Levy and Local Development Plans.

More information on the levy is available on the DCLG website.
