We work to help to implement policy on inspection and regulation. We also work directly with external review bodies through the Heads of Inspectorates Forum and a linked Regulators Forum.

The major external review bodies in Wales – the Wales Audit Office, the Care and Social Services Inspectorate Wales, Estyn and the Healthcare Inspectorate Wales – have published a statement saying how they are working to implement the policy.

All of these bodies are changing their programmes of work in line with the policy and are working together to co-ordinate programmes and to look jointly at the experience of citizens using services.

The Welsh Government also works with Whitehall departments, with the Local Better Regulation Office, local government and major regulators (the Environment Agency, Food Standards Agency, Health and Safety Executive and Office of Fair Trading), and with business and consumer interests to get the best alignment of policies and practice on better regulation of businesses.  This includes improving our own arrangements in areas such as farming and the regulation of social landlords.
