If you cannot afford to buy your own home or to rent privately a social landlord may be able to help. Social landlords charge less rent than private landlords for the homes they provide.

The Welsh Government is not a social landlord and does not directly provide social housing. However we have a responsibility to support and encourage social landlords to provide good quality homes. The two main types of social landlord in Wales are local authorities and Registered Social Landlords.

We encourage tenants to talk to their landlords and become involved in the decisions affecting their homes and communities. Grants and support are available to help tenants take a more active role.
