Delivering Emergency Care Services

The launch of this strategy is another key milestone in our commitment to deliver improved health care to the people of Wales. In Designed for Life we set down the over arching framework and principles for the service. This was supported by Access 2009 - delivering a 26-week patient pathway from GP referral to treatment - which addresses the need to reduce the length of time patients wait for planned or scheduled care.

This strategy is aimed at those people who need access to health and social care that is not planned. This ranges from those requiring emergency care to patients needing help to care for themselves at home.
