A document concerning school nursing services has been developed following a consultation.

One Wales (2007) committed the Welsh Assembly Government to

“provide a minimum of one family nurse per secondary school by the end of the Assembly term.”

Following consultation the Minister for Health and Social Services agreed to change the name from family nurse to school nurse.

The document has been developed based upon responses to the consultation.  It is aimed at all those involved in the provision of services to meet the health needs of school-aged children and young people.  It also identifies a minimum standard for the school nursing service.
