Literacy and Numeracy

Our Programme for Government stated that our aim for education is to ‘help everyone reach their potential, to reduce inequality, and to improve economic and social well-being’.

The Minister for Education and Skills’ priorities are improving standards of literacy and numeracy, and reducing the impact of deprivation on educational improvement.

The 20-point action plan committed the Welsh Government to developing National Literacy and Numeracy Programmes over the next five years. The programmes set out the actions that will be taken by the Welsh Government and our partners to achieve a step-change in standards of literacy and numeracy.
