Data Collections
Through the collection of individual pupil data the Assembly is aiming to reduce the number of data requests made to schools.
At present the main collections of individual pupil data are:
- PLASC: This collection takes place in January for all maintained schools and in September and the summer term for schools providing Post-16 education. It collects data on pupil details, characteristics and curriculum.
- NDC: This takes place in the summer term and collects data on teacher assessments at Key Stages 1, 2 and 3.
Software Development Forum (SDF)
To ensure consistent functionality for producing statutory collection files, across software supplied to schools by different companies, the IMS team manage a Software Development Forum (SDF).
WPLAS
Until the summmer of 2006 the Assembly supplied LEAs with software called WPLAS (Wales Pupil Level Analysis System) to validate and analyse PLASC & NDC data. To reduce burdens on LEA staff this functionality has now been included in the DEWi website.
