Saturday 01 August 2009

Through providing opportunities for learners to learn the language and undertake activities through the medium of Welsh at the Eisteddfod, Maes D aims to highlight the benefits of learning the Welsh language and to encourage adults to enrol on Welsh for Adults classes.

Alun Ffred Jones said:

“The good will of those who do not speak Welsh is vital in ensuring the future of Welsh, and welcoming them and Welsh learners onto the Eisteddfod maes to give them a chance to experience Welsh language culture is very important. Welsh learners have a very important role to play in sustaining the Welsh language and Maes D provides a focus for Welsh learners at the Eisteddfod.”

“I’m very pleased to be opening Maes D and I hope that many people will pass through its doors this week. I’d also like to wish everyone involved with Maes D an enjoyable Eisteddfod here in Bala.”
