The PTUC – set up as an advisory committee to provide advice to Welsh Ministers about strategic issues relating to public transport services in Wales – has identified a need to further strengthening its knowledge and expertise of North Wales transport issues.
Applicants will be asked to demonstrate a range of essential skills and experiences which include being a regular user of public transport in North Wales and significant knowledge of public transport issues in Wales with a focus on North Wales.
Minster for Transport, Carl Sargeant, said,
“The PTUC plays a key role in ensuring our public transport system in Wales better meets the needs of users and future users.
“To make public transport more accessible and attractive it’s vital that we listen to its users.
“Having additional members with a good experience of the public transport system in North Wales will further strengthen the diverse range of experience, knowledge and expertise of the Committee.”
The Committee currently has 10 members, including Chair Adele Baumgardt, who have been initially appointed for three years.
The Committee meets on a quarterly basis throughout the four regions of Wales taking evidence from a range of interest groups on issue relating to transport in their region.
Advertisements for the additional members to the PTUC will be published today with interviews and appointment of successful candidates to be made in the New Year.
