Hailed by Radio 1 presenter Jen Long as “a great fixture on the Welsh music calendar”, the rock festival has expanded from two to three days this year and features household names hoping to draw large crowds, performing alongside the best of established and emerging Welsh musicians.
‘A’, who feature producer Jason Perry and Radio 1 Rock Show host Daniel P Carter in their line-up, will headline the event's second stage, organised by Welsh rockers The Blackout, on the closing day.
Also appearing across the festival are: Deaf Havana, Saves The Day, Yashin, Lower Than Atlantis, Futures, We Are The Ocean, Exit Ten, Rise to Remain, Future of The Left, Straight Lines, Don Broco, Sonic Boom Six, Shadows Chasing Ghosts, Reaper In Sicily, The People The Poet, The Lash, The Undivided and lots more.
Part-funded by the Welsh Government, Tourism Minister Edwina Hart said:
“Merthyr Rock is a high profile cultural event that will attract thousands of festival goers from all over the UK.
“It is a great example of work in partnership between local, national government and community groups working together to make the event a collaborative success.
“Merthyr has a rich musical and cultural heritage and Merthyr Rock provides an opportunity for emerging local talent to perform alongside the likes of Razorlight in this historic location on the outskirts of Merthyr.”
