New Commissioner appointed to the Design Commission For Wales

Minister for Environment, Sustainability and Housing, Jane Davidson, has announced the appointment of Mr Trevor Rowland Skempton as a Commissioner to the Design Commission for Wales.

Mr Skempton’s post will commence on 1 April 2010 and will last for 3 years.

Speaking about the appointment, the Minister said:

"I’m very pleased to have appointed Trevor Skempton as a Commissioner to the Design Commission for Wales.

“He brings with him a wealth of experience from a number of different fields, with particular emphasis on his extensive knowledge of architecture and urban design.

“I look forward to his contribution as a member of this important national organisation.”

Mr Skempton is an architect and design manager with a wide experience of public sector work, including periods as Head of Architecture in Birmingham,  City Architect in Newcastle, and Chief Architect in Barrow-in-Furness. His most recent appointment has been as Consultant Urban Design Advisor to Liverpool City Council (2003-2008).

Mr Skempton is a Board member of Liverpool-based community design agency, Comtechsa. He holds no other Ministerial public appointments.
