Awards for healthy workplaces across Wales

Employers from across Wales have been recognised with awards for their work to maintain and improve the health and well-being of their staff in the workplace.

The Healthy Working Wales awards consist of the Corporate Health Standard and the Small Workplace Health Award.

The Corporate Health Standard is the national mark of quality for health and well-being in the workplace for businesses and organisations employing more than 50 staff; the Small Workplace Health Award is for smaller workplaces.

The awards were presented by the Health Minister Lesley Griffiths at a special ceremony in Cardiff last week.

Lesley Griffiths said:

“These awards reflect the efforts of the committed individuals within these businesses and organisations in placing health at the heart of their work.

“It is encouraging many employers recognise the importance of a healthy workforce, particularly during this challenging economic climate. They are an inspiration to other employers, who I hope will follow in their footsteps.”

Chief Medical Officer for Wales, Dr Tony Jewell, said:

“The Welsh Government’s workplace health programme, ‘Healthy Working Wales’ promotes the concept of ‘good work’. We know that ‘good employers’ will have a happy, healthy and productive workforce and this contributes both to the wider efforts to improve the health of our working-age population and to the wealth of Wales.”
