Step back in time with Cadw for a monumental end to the summer

As the end of the summer approaches, Cadw has a whole host of events happening all across Wales to help you plan a fun-filled bank holiday weekend for all the family, and make the most of the last few precious days of the holidays before the children go back to school.
Friday 24 August 2012

Wales’s heritage will be brought to life for visitors to explore at Wales’s castles, palaces and other historic sites. Locals and visitors can step back in time and discover the past how our ancestors lived with medieval re-enactments, vibrant open-air music extravaganzas, interactive arts and crafts events, military displays, castle tours and ‘tastes of the medieval’ with picnics and food tasting.

Ffion Reynolds, Cadw’s event manager said,

“As the end of the summer approaches, we’re gearing up for a busy action packed bank holiday weekend at all our sites across Wales.  We’ve got a range of events taking place that are suitable for the whole family and really bring the dramatic stories of our sites to life. Not only will your children be entertained, but they’ll be learning too. It’s the perfect opportunity to explore the history on your doorstep.”

Cadw – the Welsh word for ‘keep’ is the organisation that looks after 128 of the country’s monuments. Event highlights are included below and a full list is available at the Cadw website.
