Ruthin Craft Centre was among seven organisations or individuals shortlisted for the Dewi-Prys Thomas Prize 2009, which recognises the importance of good design to the quality of life, identity and regeneration of Wales. The prize was awarded at the Royal Society of Architects Wales's Annual Conference in Cardiff. This was the third time that the triennial prize has been awarded.
The Minister said:
“Winning this prize is a great coup for Ruthin Craft Centre and a real endorsement of the hard work that has been put in there by the centre’s staff and supporters.”
“The centre is an important part of the cultural offer in North Wales and reflects the Arts Council of Wales’ strategic approach to the development of a network of first-class galleries across Wales.
“I was very impressed with the Centre’s stunning new home when I officially opened it last December. I hope winning this prize will bring greater recognition to the centre and I’d like to send them my whole-hearted congratulations.”
