Consultation on the draft Environmental Permitting (England and Wales) (Amendment) Regulations 2011

These Regulations provide a common environmental permitting framework for various industrial, intensive farming, waste, water and groundwater discharge activities and radioactive substances regulation. The aim is to reduce the administrative burden of compliance without compromising environmental standards.

This consultation paper proposes amendments to the 2010 Regulations, to take effect from 6 April 2011. The proposed amendments are set out in Annex I.  

The proposals cover changes to certain administrative procedures and technical details for environmental permits and exempt waste operations. They also involve the proposed introduction of new civil sanctions powers for the Environment Agency for offences under the 2010 Regulations.
