Working with other organisations

Local Government in Wales consists of county and county borough councils; police, national park, and fire and rescue authorities; and town and community councils.
Providing stakeholders with an opportunity to feed back on their working relationship with the Assembly Government is an important way of identifying ways to improve stakeholder engagement.
Working closely with community groups, businesses and organisations, including local government, is an integral part of our work.

Strong partnerships enable us to develop polices and deliver public services that have a positive impact on people in Wales and demonstrate the best use of our collective resources.

Welsh Government Sponsored Bodies (WGSBs)

WGSBs are directly funded by the Welsh Government, but are separate from our organisation and operate at ‘arm's length’ from Ministers. In several areas of public life from heritage to rural affairs to education, we work closely with WGSBs to set the strategic direction for the delivery of public services in Wales.  Follow the Public Bodies Related Link to view the full list of WGSBs.

Local Government

Local Government is one of the main service deliverers in Wales and accounts for over a third of the Welsh Government’s budget. You can learn more about our relationship with Local Authorities, including funding arrangements and how we work together to implement policy that promotes a joined up approach to government in Wales.

Our relationships with external bodies

We work closely with many external organisations – Health Services, the Third Sector, Private Sector, Trade Unions and Higher Education institutions.

Every 2 years we ask our stakeholders to complete a survey about working with us. We use the results of the survey to work on improving our relationship and making our partnerships more productive in the future. You can read the latest results from the Stakeholder Survey 2010 Related Link.
