Carl Sargeant, Minister for Social Justice and Local Government

I issued a Cabinet Statement on 5 January 2010 setting out that tackling violence against women and domestic abuse would be one of my top priorities in my early days in office.

I am pleased to inform Members that today I am launching “The Right to be Safe” the  Welsh Assembly Government’s six year integrated strategy for tackling all forms of violence against women. I am also publishing a three-year implementation plan which will support the delivery of this strategy and the existing domestic abuse strategy.

I will be arranging for all Members to receive hard copies of the documents as soon as they are available.
