Transport Grant Settlement 2003-04

I am announcing my decision on the allocation of Transport Grant funds to local authorities for 2003-04 at 10.15 today at Kinmel Bay.
I have agreed to fund new capital bids arising from draft regional bus strategies up to a level of £9.4million. I have also agreed to support new projects reflecting the emerging Walking and Cycling Strategy up to a level of £4.8million in 2003-04. I have confirmed funding for road and rail schemes identified in the "Five Year Programme" I announced in January 2001 of £300million and the further £130million I announced in January 2002. Wales. I have allocated a further £3.3million to Safe Routes to School schemes.
