Ongoing Research  

  • Bilingualism in the private sector in Wales: exploratory study;
  • International evidence on investing in skills across the life cycle, including pre-birth interventions;
  • Economic analysis of the implications of introducing a 'living' wage in Wales;
  • The economic impact of tolls on the Severn crossings. 

Planned Research

  • The wider economic effects of housing markets;
  • An examination of the effects of house building policies in Wales; in particular focusing on the social implications of those policies and lessons learnt;
  • Understanding the factors and incentives influencing local economic development;
  • The economic evidence on the impact of macroeconomic conditions and UK macroeconomic policy on Wales, especially interest rate policy;
  • The role of airports in regional economic development: literature review.
